Ford ECO Technology
Ford Technology allows us to reduce our environmental impact through Ford vehicles being more fuel efficient and sustainable. Find out more about future vehicles and the exciting cutting-edge technology being developed by Ford.
Ford ECO Mode
Another first for the 2010 Focus ECOnetic, this software provides useful advice on achieving better fuel economy according to your driving style. This system assesses the influence of your driving behaviour on fuel consumption including gear shifting and motorway driving. Ford Eco Mode generates a driver profile and a score based on areas where you can improve fuel economy. Over time, this technology will help you to save fuel and so reduce running costs while having less impact on the environment.

Ford ECOnetic Technology
Ford ECOnetic Technology is designed to reduce your costs through improved fuel economy and lower CO2 emissions, without any compromise on style or driving quality. Much of this technology is brought together in our ECOnetic models which deliver some of the lowest fuel consumption and CO2 emissions in the Ford range. In the near future, our ECOnetic Technology will expand to include electric and hybrid-electric vehicles and biofuel-capable vehicles. ECOnetic models also use Smart Regenerative Charging to conserve battery power, by adapting the charge going into the battery according to the way the vehicle is being driven.

EcoBoost
Our new family of technologically advanced EcoBoost petrol engines reduce fuel consumption, and lower CO2 emissions. The reduction in fuel consumption and CO2 emissions is achieved by burning fuel in the most efficient and cleanest way possible. These engines offer an attractive alternative to diesel or hybrid power units, delivering highly competitive fuel economy and low cost of ownership. The vehicle options will comprise 1.6 litre engine for the new Ford C-MAX and 2.0 litre engine for the large car range.

Start-Stop Technology
The Ford Start Stop technology helps to create cars that are as fuel efficient as possible, without compromising the driving experience. The Ford Auto-Start-Stop system automatically cuts the engine when the vehicle is stationary, for example at traffic lights. As soon as the driver prepares to move away the engine starts quietly. In fact the system stops and starts the engine so smoothly and seamlessly, there's no need to alter driver behaviour. Better still, fuel consumption and CO2 emissions can be reduced by 5% in mixed driving conditions.
